Meaning of Chiong

A Place Named After an Artist’s Pen Name

Chiong takes its name from ceramic artist Kim Ho’s studio name. It reflects a place to rest close to hanok, art, and nature.

Timeline

A Brief Timeline

After severe flooding in northern Gyeonggi in 1998, the founders settled in Gapyeong and began planning a hanok compound.

Traditional hanok buildings were completed over roughly four years, establishing the basis for both lodging and cultural use.

In 2003, Chiong opened as a cultural space for exhibitions, classes, and seminars.

Today, it hosts hanok stays, exhibitions, cultural programs, events, and filming.
